Title: Campus Safety Dispatcher
Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Safety, the Campus Safety Dispatchers are an integral part of campus activities, and are responsible for answering and transferring all incoming calls that are dialed to the main Hartwick College phone number. The dispatchers serve the Campus Safety and Facilities Department while handling everything from emergency situations to routine assignments and service requests. The dispatcher is also a first line customer service representative and gives the important first impression for people making telephone inquiries to the campus. This position is for the 3:00p.m. – 11:00 p.m. shift.

Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service to the Hartwick College community
- Answer all incoming phone calls and transfer these calls to the appropriate office or person
- Dispatch Campus Safety or Facilities to any calls for service on campus
- Maintain dispatch files for Campus Safety and assign case numbers and dispositions when needed
- Print out and file all daily reports including emails and memos
- Maintain the Campus Safety lost and found property files
- Monitor the campus surveillance camera system
- Have the ability to maintain positive relationships with all internal and external constituents
- Make timely notifications to appropriate supervisors and other Hartwick College staff of emergencies, hazardous situations, and any other newsworthy or major incidents
- Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulations
- As a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus
- Participate in major campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend
- Tact and judgment to deal with different types of people either in person or on the phone
- Communication skills to handle multiple phone lines and two-way radio at the same time
- Customer service skills to give a good impression to all callers
- Excellent inter-personal skills a must
- Working knowledge of Windows-based computer software
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new programs and software as necessary
