Title: EmpowerU Coordinator
Description: Under the supervision of the Director of AccessAbility Services and Academic Inclusivity, the EmpowerU Coordinator is responsible for managing the EmpowerU @ Hartwick program. This position’s primary role is to support the enrolled EmpowerU students by creating an inclusive higher education opportunity for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. These duties include recruiting students, one-on-one meetings with students to ensure person-centered plan objectives are delivered, developing modification plans, collaborating with faculty, partnering with Career Development staff and Education department, coordinating and supervising peer mentors, serving as a liaison to the human service organizations/care teams, maintaining on campus work placements and co-curricular opportunities for EmpowerU students. This is a full-time, 10-month position, that is grant funded for three years.

Responsibilities:
- Recruitment- application review, interviewing prospective students, conducting information sessions/open houses, meeting with families, Care Coordinators, Special Education teachers etc.
- Develop communication plan including marketing materials, website, and social media
- Plan and implement orientation sessions for incoming students
- Conduct student advising sessions with support of faculty advisor to create academic course of study based on the student’s person-centered plan and make necessary course modifications
- Responsible for faculty outreach, engagement and training
- Identify on-campus job opportunities and maintain list of options
- Recruit and manage relationships with regional business partners (internship and employment sites)
- Train work supervisors and address concerns
- Create and present EmpowerU workshops
- Partner with Career Development on vocational workshops
- Assist with training and supervision of Peer Mentors
- Share co-curricular opportunities and track student involvement
- Lead EmpowerU Advisory Committee
- Coordinate with Student Accounts, Registrar, IT, Health Center, Institutional Advancement, Enrollment, Academic Affairs, and Student Payroll
- Continue partnership with the Technical Assistance Center, The Taishoff Center for Inclusive Higher Education at Syracuse University
- Assess all aspects of the program and create yearly report
- Maintain budget
- Assist with funding opportunities through grants and donors
- As a representative of the College, must comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus
- Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulations
- Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend
